This week, Purolator is kicking off our third annual Purolator Tackle Hunger® National Red Bag campaign, supporting food banks across Canada. For the first time, Purolator will also be rolling out Red Bag food drives in select American cities where Purolator operates with the food collections going to support local U.S. food banks. Taking place from Sept. 3 to Oct. 6, this year’s campaign involves more than 60,000 reusable red bags being distributed across 25 communities.
The National Red Bag campaign occurs during Hunger Action Month – a nationwide campaign observed in both Canada and the U.S. dedicated to raising awareness about hunger and sparking change in our communities.
Launched in 2023, the National Red Bag campaign involves Purolator volunteers delivering Red Bags to people’s doorsteps, then returning a week later to collect the filled bags. Volunteers then deliver donated goods to the local food bank. Dates for each location are listed below.
"As need continues to rise, we are coming together again to meet the demand. Last year’s Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign collected an incredible more than 163,000 pounds of food, and this year, we’re aiming even higher as we launch our largest campaign yet,” said John Ferguson, President and CEO, Purolator. “We are so proud of all our employees who go the extra mile to give back, and grateful to everyone who fills their bag with much-needed food. It’s going to take all of us—working together—to drive real change and ensure no one goes without.”
“Food banks are facing an overwhelming surge in demand—more than two million visits in a single month, including nearly 700,000 children served,” said Kirstin Beardsley, Chief Executive Officer of Food Banks Canada. “The scale of need is calling on us to act now. The Purolator National Red Bag campaign shows what’s possible when people come together with purpose. Every doorstep donation is an act of solidarity, helping ensure families have access to the essentials they need to get through the day.”
