Purolator honoured with two OHS Canada awards

September 29, 2025

Purolator has been recognized with two top distinctions at the 2025 OHS Canada Honours awards: Gold in the Psychologically Safe Workplace category and the Community Leader Award, presented to Ashley Wood-Suszko, Senior Manager, Health and Wellbeing, Purolator.

These awards spotlight our Purolator Health program, which launched three years ago, and focuses on developing new initiatives and improving access to resources to support the health and well-being of our workforce, customers and the communities we serve. The program has delivered more than 37,000 hours of mental health training, including The Working Mind for Managers training program and Mental Health First Aid, reaching hundreds of leaders and frontline employees.

“Purolator Health empowers employees to prioritize their physical, mental, and social well-being. Through our mental health strategy, we’ve fostered a culture of care and a support system free from stigma,” said Ashley Wood-Suszko. “This honour truly belongs to every employee who has made well-being a priority and contributed to this journey. I’m proud to be part of a company that makes genuine efforts to create a psychologically safe workplace where everyone can thrive.”

The Community Leader Award recognizes Ashley’s leadership in embedding mental health into Purolator’s safety strategy, including the creation of a national network of 95 Well-being Champions and 187 Mental Health First Aid Responders.

Cindy Bailey, Vice President Corporate Sustainability, added: “These awards validate the work our teams have done to make psychological safety a daily practice. From our well-being champions to our operational leaders, this is a shared achievement.”

Our Healthy Workplace Month campaign last October saw employees complete over 4,000 wellness challenges, and we have seen a 57 per cent drop in urgent counselling, 40 per cent reduction in long-term disability duration, and 16 per cent fewer mental health prescription claims since 2021.

The awards were presented at the OHS Canada Honours gala on Sept. 25, 2025, at Palais Royale in Toronto.
